Under the Romanian Labour Code and related regulation:

  • Every employee is entitled to a minimum of 20 working days of paid annual leave per calendar year.
  • Public holidays are not counted as part of the annual leave days.
  • For employees working under difficult, dangerous or unhealthy conditions, or for disabled employees, young workers under 18, there is an additional entitlement of at least 3 extra working days of paid annual leave.
  • Annual leave is accrued in proportion to the time worked — meaning even if an employee has worked only part of the year, a proportional entitlement arises.
  • If unused within the calendar year, leave must be granted within up to 18 months from the year in which it was earned.
